
New Scientist: El Niño climate events cost tropical countries trillions of dollars

Despite what the article is arguing on the negative impact of El Niño climatic changes, on different countries across the globe, Kamiar Mohaddes, Associate Professor in Economics & Policy at Cambridge Judge Business School, claims there are even positive impacts on some countries:
“Absolutely, there are some countries that are negatively impacted by an El Niño event. But there are also a bunch of countries that are not impacted by an El Niño effect. And then there are countries that are positively impacted by El Niño,” says Mohaddes.
