Oxford to lead international consortium to unlock potential of programmable nucleic acid drugs

A consortium led by Matthew Wood, Professor of Neuroscience in the Department of Paediatrics and Director of the Oxford-Harrington Rare Disease Centre, has been awarded £8m of funding from UKRI, LifeArc and the Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator (NATA) via the Nucleic Acid Therapies (NAT) Delivery Research Challenge.

A new study led by the University of Oxford has developed a high-resolution model to quantify the sources of plastic debris accumulating on beaches across the Seychelles and other island states in the western Indian Ocean. The results, published in Marine Pollution Bulletin, demonstrate that most of this waste originates from distant sources and not from the islands themselves.
